Another difference is the presence of more Desert Lillies. Sprouting from bulbs about two feet under the sand, only during the wettest years does enough rain reach them to convince them to sprout, so wetter years like this year sees far more of them than your typical year. Two years ago, we only saw one single lily by chance along Rockhouse Canyon Road, a few miles to the east. This year, they were spread around the entire floor. There seemed to be a particular clump of them along the west end of Henderson Canyon Road, near the turtle sculptures.
