Another peninsular Desert Bighorn Sheep, Ovis canadensis nelsoni, relatively far from the rest of the group - this one appeared to be eating leaves from the Ocotillo, Fouquieria splendens ssp. splendens. The Ocotillo is rare in that it drops its leaves relatively quickly during dry spells, and quickly sprouts them back after it rains. I'd guess this means the plant puts relatively little effort into defensive structures within the leaves itself - placing that burden entirely on the ocotillo's MASSIVE SPINES.
