This is an excerpt from a letter of Gene Cope:
“I’ll try to give you a short autobiography of our lives. I spent my first thirteen years in Crawsfordsville, Indiana. We then moved to Florida (Hollywood, Dania, then Fort Lauderdale.) I graduated from Stranaham High School in Fort Lauderdale in 1959. I joined the United States Paratroopers in September of 1959, where I served three years (the last two years in Germany). I then took two years of aviation in the Junior College of Broward County in Florida. I also went to Olivet Nazarene College in Kanbaber, Illinois one year. I met Karen in Kanbaber. We fell in love and got married in Des Moine, Iowa on September 4th, 1965. we moved back to Fort Lauderdale and I worked installing carpet until October of 1969. We then moved to Longmont, Colorado where we have lived ever since. I have had various jobs since we have been here; sheet metal worker, fire fighter, carpet installer, field engineer, and now as a carpenter and builder. When I was a field engineer, I made three trips to Saudi Arabia and was in charge of the construction for several construction projects. At the time, I am building custom homes. We have a fourteen year old son and a twelve year old daughter.” (retrieved from personal collection)
