Paul A. Mize wrote on the back of the picture: “This is a picture of Ruby (Mize), Bob
(Mize’s) wife’s niece. Jim is on the right. He was a big man. I was small, on the right of her.
We thought we were out of the cold and snowy weather when we went to Houston, Texas As soon as
we got there, a big snow came. We were surprised. Him went back home a little after I left. Him
and Ruby kept writing to each other. Then in 1943 when I went to Kentucky with my wife I got a
leave from the Navy Hospital for a month. Ruby was staying with Jim’s mother. Him was in Mississippi,
got ready to go overseas. I heard later they got a divorce and whe went back to Texas. He got married
again and had a few children. Then later died.” (Paul Mize 1983)
