George Riley Phelps, son of William Louden Phelps & Rachel Earp, born on October 9, 1856 at Bent, KY. He married Matilda Hargis, daughter of John Carroll Hargis & Martha Ann Sears, on February 13, 1879. They had at least eight children. Matilda died in 1906 by being burned to death; per Dexter Alexander. George Riley remarried on March 28, 1909 to Minerva Ann McCarthy Randall.
