"By Denton Hargis.....William Louden Phelps, my paternal great grandfather. William Louden Phelps, born February 28, 1836 at Bent, Pulaski Co., KY. He was the son of Lorenzo Dow Phelps and Sarah Brinson. On January 23, 1854 he married Rachel Erp, daughter of Phillip Hawker Erp and Dicady Phelps. From 1855-1875 he lived on a 150 acre farm where he raised wheat and corn, as well as livestock, hogs, cattle, and horses. Unlike his brothers Kill & John Madison Phelps, he did not serve in the Civil War.
